The first International congress of The African Phytomedicine Scientific Society (APSS) brought together researchers, traditional health practitioners and industry stakeholders. The congress was hosted at the University of Pretoria’s Plant and soil sciences auditorium and Graduate center from 9 to 10 of November 2023. The congress was a bustling hive of engagement, intellectual exchange and collaboration culminating in the advancement of Pharmacognosy.

Enterprises University of Pretoria’s Research Solutions team was delighted to sponsor and be invited as an exhibitor to showcase its capabilities in the natural products industry. The congress provided a platform for role players from across the world in various disciplines to gather with a common passion for the development of phytomedicine on the African continent, including Prof Namrita Lall from the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at UP and her Cosmetic Testing Team. The event included an interactive workshop, robust panel session as well as presentations offered in-person and virtually.

This highlighted the innovative research developments within the sector from postgraduate students, researchers and traditional health practitioners; who further elevated the scientific dialogue and understanding of phytomedicine.
